THE SPIRIT TESTIFIES THIS IS TRUE. WHAT AN AMAZING WEEK!!!

March 24, 2014

Hola familia,
How is everyone?  This week has been very busy and spiritual. Thank you mom for the package!  It made our day.  I really appreciate it.   On Tuesday, I went on exchange with an elder from North Plainfield.  It was great and we contacted over 9 people on the streets and got a lot of information.  People on the streets are very willing to talk and are surprised that two gringos can talk in Spanish and are happy to talk with us.  Our goal was to contact with the Book of Mormon and found success using it.  It was a great exchange.  On Thursday, we found a new investigator!  His name is Nelson and he is from Guatemala and has a strong belief in God and Jesus Christ.  He let us in his house and we got to know him better.  Family is huge in his life and explained a little bit about the Plan of Salvation.  He has trouble reading but said he will try to read the Book of Mormon.  He felt the spirit and really opened up to us.  He also wanted us to download the scriptures on his phone.  He is very religious and expressed to us that he feels that if you accept Jesus Christ and God in your life and try to be good, you will be saved and do not need to belong to a church but said that church helps you gain that faith.  We explained a little bit about the restoration and focused more on the Book of Mormon.  He has a great basis we can start on and are going in more depth about the restoration next visit.  That night we had finished contacting and were heading home.  I felt that we needed to try our investigator Santos who lives close by.  We tried to contact him for about a week and a half but he was not answering.  I mentioned to my companion that we should try him and he said OK.  We knocked and waited for a couple minutes, then a guy answered the door, we had never seen him before and said that Santos didn’t live there.  We thought he moved but and was about to close the door when Santos came to the door the last second.  We were relieved and excited to see him.  He said he had time for a lesson.  We read 2 Nephi 32 with him and explained each verse to him because he said he had been struggling understanding the Book of Mormon.  We then asked him if we could all kneel down and pray to ask if the Book of Mormon was true and after he finished praying wait in silence until he received an answer.  He said the prayer and waited for the answer, we then asked how he felt and he said he felt at peace and calm.  We then told him that is the Holy Ghost testifying to you that the Book of Mormon is true.  The spirit was so strong in the room and he knew it was true.  What a great experience!!!  On Friday, I went on exchange with one of the Zone Leaders and taught one of their investigators named Brian.  We taught him the Gospel of Jesus Christ in English and shared scriptures from 2 Nephi 31.  He received what we taught him very well and when we asked him to commit to be baptized he said he didn't know. We then asked if he knew these things were true, if he would be baptized.  He said he would and committed him to be baptized on April 20th.  I am very excited for him.  We then did a lot of door contacting and many just said they were not interested.  It was good experience though.  Learned a lot from the exchange; we have hard working zone leaders.  They are great.   On Saturday, we had coordination and talked with a less active for a little bit.  My companion was feeling a little sick so we stayed in for a little.  We then taught Santos again about the restoration more in depth and tried to focus on the great apostasy.  This time he really understood that our church has the only priesthood authority on the earth and the only true church on the earth.  It was a great lesson.  Sunday we had at three less actives and Santos come to church.  It was great and we had more people attend the branch this time.  In gospel essentials, we taught about the five principles of the Gospel more in depth and had a good discussion with the less actives and investigators in the class.  Santos stayed for the whole three hours and said he enjoyed it.  That night we met with Santos again and taught him the first part of the Plan of Salvation.  I taught a little bit more and had a great experience.  He received it well and we committed him to pray about the Plan of Salvation and to take down the statue saints he used to pray to.  He said he would.  It has been a spiritual week.  I love you all so very much.  Thank you for your prayers and love.

Love,
Elder Plummer
